How to spot a privacy half-truthSafety guidance

Be suspicious when a claim:

  • Uses absolute words like “untraceable”, “completely anonymous”, “always” or “never”.
  • Treats what’s on the chain as the whole picture, ignoring devices, networks and exchanges.
  • Ignores the other people involved: the recipient, the exchange, the app.
  • Comes bundled with pressure to buy, connect a wallet or act fast.

Real-world context

Why this matters

Overconfidence is one of the most common privacy leaks. People who think they’re invisible stop being careful. The goal isn’t paranoia. It’s an accurate picture, so you can make real choices.

Key takeaways

  1. Pseudonymous is not anonymous.
  2. Zcash offers shielding, but it isn’t automatic for every transaction.
  3. Shielding protects on-chain details, not everything around them.
  4. Bridged ZEC follows the rules of the chain it lives on.
  5. Privacy is normal, not suspicious.
